Numerical Study and Comparison of Heat and Mass Transfer Fluid Flow of Silver and Aluminum Oxide Nanofluid Past a Horizontally Plate | Chapter 8 | Research Updates in Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 2

This work analyses the behavior, characteristics, flow development, and heat and mass transfer coefficient of nanofluids under laminar boundary layer flow over a horizontally inclined plate. A nanofluid is the suspension of ultrafine particles in a base fluid, which tremendously enhances the heat transfer characteristics of the original fluid. This work aims to compare the characteristics between two different nanofluids Silver and Aluminum Oxide with the same base fluid water under the heat and mass transfer nanofluid past a horizontally inclined plate. The Basic governing equations of the free convective flow for heat and mass transfer are converted to a non-dimensional partial differential equation using non-dimensional parameters and are solved numerically using crank Nicolson Implicit finite difference method. The final equations are solved using the MATLAB software and the results are shown as graphs. The velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are illustrated graphically to study about the various parameters Grashof Number, Angle of inclination, Nano particle volume fraction, Schmidt number and non-uniform surface temperature.

Thermal Radiation and Chemical Reaction Effects on an Optically Thin Grey Gas in a Moving Vertical Plate | Chapter 7 | Advances and Challenges in Science and Technology Vol. 7

In this study, we have considered the fluid as the gray gas and medium is assumed to be non-scattering medium and radiation is absorbing –emitting radiation. The effects of heat radiation and chemical reaction on an infinite vertical isothermal plate with variable mass diffusion are examined. The temperature of the plate is increased to T’W, and the concentration near the plate increases linearly over time. The governing momentum, energy, and concentration equations are solved using simplifying assumptions, and analytical solutions for fluid velocity, temperature distribution, and mass concentration are obtained. MATLAB software is used to generate the various parameter graphs. We found that the temperature rises as the radiation parameter falls and Chemical process diminishes the concentration resulting in thinner the boundary layer.

Modeling and Simulation of Chemical and Mass Transfer Processes in Industrial Column Apparatuses | Chapter 7 | Research Aspects in Chemical and Materials Sciences Vol. 2

Theoretical study of the techniques for modelling and simulating industrial processes is offered in this chapter. The need for knowledge about the interphase boundaries and velocity distributions in the phases in the column apparatuses and the interaction between the simple (elementary) processes in the complex process, i.e., knowledge about the process mechanism, lead to two main problems in the modelling of the kinetics of industrial mass transfer processes that are resolved.

Heat Transfer for Engineering Students | Book Publisher International

Heat transfer is a common occurrence in manufacturing and other aspects of life, therefore specific applications of heat transfer are not difficult to come by. When two systems have a temperature difference, heat is a form of energy in transmission that moves from one to the other without transferring mass. Heat transfer problems are sometimes classified as either steady (also known as steady state) or transient (also known as transient) in nature (also called unsteady). One or more of the following types of heat transfer are used: conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction is another name for heat diffusion. A solid-fluid interface, a temperature difference between the solid surface and the surrounding fluid, and fluid motion are all required for convection heat transfer. Heat radiation is the movement of heat from a body with a high temperature to a body with a lower temperature when the bodies are not in direct physical contact with each other or separated in space. The two basic ways of mass movement are molecular diffusion and convection.

Mass Transfer by Stent Based Drug Delivery System: An Analytical Study | Chapter 11 | New Ideas Concerning Science and Technology Vol. 9

A rectangular channel divided into a lumen region, a stent inserted in the wall region, and a porous wall is used to model stent-based drug delivery. The updated Gill and Sankarasubramanian method is used to obtain velocity, concentration, and dispersion coefficient over long periods of time. The outcomes are represented graphically. The diffusion coefficient is the most important factor that affects mass transfer, according to the findings. The research presented here aids in the analysis of a situation in which a drug is administered to a compromised arterial wall through a stent.
