Cases of Pet Bites and Rabies during 2005-2015: An Epidemiological Study from Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of the Congo | Chapter 1 | Current Innovations in Disease and Health Research Vol. 2

 This affiliate highlights to draw an epidemiological sketch, to col- lect data inclined support the arguments in favor of the invention of a program of control against rabies, to formulate pieces of advice for close monitoring concerning this zoonosis in Lubumbashi. Rabies is lethal type of encephalitis induced by neurotropic viruses to RNA belonging to the Rhabdoviridae classification and to the Lyssa virus type. This cross-sectional explanatory study took into report data included from all bite sufferers received at the rabies center from January 2005 to December 2015. People over the age of 15 are the main fatalities of canine bites (62.1%), most of the victims are male (55.9%); dogs show the majority of sharp animals (96.4%) of which about 3/4 are unvaccinated (71.37%). Two municipalities are more affected: Lubumbashi (predominance 83.35/100,000 and Kampemba (Prevalence 51.74/100,000). LBite peaks were observed from July to October (p = 0.01). Rabies is most ordinary in children under the age of 15 in average, 40% of post-uncovering vaccinations are given to children old 5 to 14 and the majority of immunized individuals are guys. Microbial Ecology of Hospital Surfaces of Maternities in the Public Hospitals of Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo: A Cross-sectional Descriptive Study| Chapter 11 | Current Innovations in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 10

 The goals of this branch were to label the nature of the germs present on clinic surfaces and to assess their opposition to the antibiotics secondhand in clinical practice in the maternities of public clinics in Lubumbashi. Germs have the ability to adulterate things, medical supplies, and chemicals in healthcare backgrounds, which therefore come into touch accompanying exposed anatomical domains. The cross-sectional explanatory study was carried out in seven maternities in January 2015. These maternities were preferred according to either they met the addition criteria. Data collection was acted by swab onsurfaces usingISO/DIS 14698-1 standard.The reasoning of the samples was carried out engaged of the university hospitals of Lubumbashi. Out of 77 samples of surfaces taken and resolved, 47 surfaces or 61% presented one or more beginning. Candida albicans was more isolated on 20 surfaces, that is 43%, followed by Escherichia coli on 17 surfaces (36%), Staphylococcus aureus on 4 surfaces (9%) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebseiella oxytoca, Enterococci faecalis individually on 2 surfaces (4%). Les Klebseiella oxytocawas found in Dakin's resolution reserved for cleansing in the operating room. LThe germs were multi-opposing to several medicines commonly secondhand clinically in all these maternities, exceptionally to Amoxyciline, Ampicillin and Augmentin (Amoxiciline + clavulanic acid). On hospital surfaces, we found a high amount of multiresistant germs. A sound procedure for the use of antibiotics and disinfectant must be established, and biocleaning must be enhanced.
