Strategies for Improving Computer Science Students' Academic Performance in Programming Skill | Chapter 4 | Current Topics on Mathematics and Computer Science Vol. 4

 For computer science students, programming agility is a must-have talent. On the other hand, both teachers and students have identified teaching and learning programming concepts and abilities as a significant obstacle. As a result, creating effective programming learning approaches and environments has become a hot topic. The study's purpose is to identify ways to improve how computer programming is taught to undergraduate students in the field of computer science and information technology. Because it is too abstract and requires superior analytic skills, computer programming is usually regarded as one of the most difficult subjects in postsecondary institutions. design of research A descriptive technique, actual student grades, and informal interviews with instructors were used in the study. According to the results of a widely accepted evaluation, 47 percent of students in the programming course perform poorly academically. As a result, it was determined that there is a need for improvement techniques that require preparation and implementation in order to improve students' motivation to study, academic performance, and education quality in the field of computer science. Recommendations were made that were both relevant and effective.

An Examination of the Impact of COVID-19 and Response Strategies Adopted by Businesses | Chapter 16 | Insights into Economics and Management Vol. 1

 

The aim of the research was to investigate the effects of Covid-19 and the response strategies employed by companies. They found five separate economic sectors. The companies and sectors selected are: hospitality (presidential hotel), health care (New Yale Haven Hospital), development (Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing), finance (Radix Pension Managers) and the oil and gas (Seplat Petroleum) industries. The research adopted the method of cross-sectional survey and produced data through desk analysis of secondary materials, telephone interviews, and chats on social media. Fifteen (15) top-level members of the targeted organisations made up the population of the sample. With literary discussions, the results were recorded thematically. In several of these companies, COVID-19 has been shown to have a negative impact on business activities, resulting in the loss of significant company sales. The study further revealed that the predominant response strategies of most organisations included improved communication, diversification and innovativeness. The study therefore, recommended hat there is need for firms to develop and sustain effective response strategies that will enable them mitigate the impact of Covid-19 and it's associated uncertainties.
