The Ritual Process of the Canoe Dragon Boat in the Qingshui River Basin | Chapter 10 | Traditions and Cultural Heritage: Genesis, Reproduction, and Preservation

The dragon boat culture of the ethnic groups in southern China has a long history. Every year during the Dragon Boat Festival, many ethnic groups will row a dragon boat to commemorate a great poet-Qu Yuan. However, in the Qingshui River Basin, the descendants of Chi You (a tribal leader defeated by the Yellow Emperor, who is a legendary ruler, in ancient times), the Miao people would row a dragon boat to commemorate a legend-the story of a brave father killing a dragon. The dragon boat in the Qingshui River Basin is different from the traditional Chinese dragon boat, but a "canoe dragon boat" with a whole stick of wood as the hull. The dragon boat culture of the Miao people is also quite special, in that there are not only the ritual process of killing dragons and eating dragon meat, but also the belief in worshiping and respecting dragons, the two are harmoniously combined in the Miao culture. Therefore, this writing assignment based on my fieldwork will discuss the various symbols in the Miao dragon boat ritual by combing through the ritual process of the Miao dragon boat, and how the Miao people construct their collective memory through rituals.

Crossing Thresholds: Some Philosophical Insights into Fish Farming | Chapter 7 | Recent Research Advances in Arts and Social Studies Vol. 2

This affiliate seeks to analyze from a philosophical point of view few of the consequences that could have, for a angler, the fact of flattering a fish farmer. Methodologically talking, the instruments are conventional of philosophy:  analysis of ideas –here primarily related to space, occasion and movement-, expression of hypotheses and construction of debates. The possibility that the fishermen have of transforming themselves into chum farmers is, in the case, mainly the result of the work of sea biologists who, established research on local soils, waters, fauna and flora, have more developed methods for the practice of fish farming. For marshy regions like the pertaining to the south Gulf of Mexico, and specially the port of Sisal, at which point there are now conditions for fishermen to train in the civilization of octopus, snook and insignificant, the issue is of utmost significance. Last but not least, the numerous contrasts 'tween fishing and extricate farming when viewed in conditions of personal and friendly identity point at priorities that be successful beyond continuation and sketch what we could call, after Gaston Bachelard, thresholds of bravery. This the reason why the text also has a phenomenological touch.

The Post Graduate Teachers teaching English as a second language to Higher Secondary Classes
that is 11
th and 12th grades need to cultivate a good sense of appreciation for poetry. They need to
inherit the thirst for reading poetry aloud and competence to elucidate the essential characteristics of
poetry. A study was launched to understand the level of appreciation of poetry of the Post Graduate
Teachers by giving a test with 25 items for testing their skills of understanding of alliteration,
metaphor, simile, personification, repetition, sound–patterning, stress-patterning, imagery,
unpatterned rhyme, connotative words and suggestive words. A sample of 90 post graduate teachers
of both sex working in State Government Higher Secondary Schools, Private Matriculation Schools
and Private CBSE schools in Chennai city answered the test in fifty minutes time. The ‘t’ test was
applied. The Post graduate teachers in CBSE schools in Chennai City had the highest mean scores in
their competency in appreciating the elements of English poetry. Those in Government Schools and
Matriculation Schools came next in the order. But there was no significant difference in their
competencies between any two types of schools. They have a high level of appreciation of poetry but
with slight difference in mean scores. There is no significant difference in competencies for
appreciating poetry between the post graduate teachers working in any two kinds of schools
