Marine Ranching in Indonesia: Towards Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture | Chapter 4 | Advanced Research in Biological Science Vol. 8

Marine ranching plays a significant role in fisheries management in several East Asian countries. This concept might be a good choice for Indonesia to increase its fishery production. As the largest archipelagic country in the world with a total marine area of 6.4 million square kilometers, Indonesia has a great opportunity to apply this fisheries management concept. However, the successful experience of implementing marine ranching in East Asian countries provides a lesson that success is not only determined by natural factors but also by technology, commitment, and government support. This paper examines the similarities and differences in Marine Ranching and Floating Net Cages (conventional aquaculture). This paper also analyses Indonesia's Opportunity and Readiness to implement marine ranching. Finally, this paper provides some recommendations for implementing marine ranching in Indonesia along with solving problems that may arise in its implementation.

The COVID-19 Vulnerabilities and the Ubiquitous Artificial Intelligence Linkages | Chapter 1 | Emerging Trends in Disease and Health Research Vol. 8

The study's objective is to do an exploratory evaluation of the Covid-19 pandemic by concentrating on the topic of Covid-19 pandemic morbidity and mortality and taking artificial intelligence dynamics and quality of life into consideration (QOL). This research was conducted using a review of the literature, anecdotal evidence, and reports on the morbidity of COVID-19, including the severity of its devastating effects in countries like the United States, Africa, the United Kingdom, China, and Brazil, among others. The findings of this study demonstrated that several susceptible populations are affected negatively by the coronavirus. They include the elderly, front-line employees, marginalised groups, visible minorities, and others. The problem is particularly difficult in Africa since there is a shortage of infrastructure, money, and people resources. Additionally, scientists are successfully utilising AI technology to enhance the production of medications and vaccines. The epidemic also made us realise how important shared values and interpersonal collaboration are. It is widely acknowledged how crucial healthcare professionals and other frontline workers are to combating the epidemic. New methods and successful health interventions have also been proven to be crucial in alleviating the harmful effects of the crisis. In order to combat future waves of epidemics as effectively as possible, it is important to draw lessons from the pandemic. The protection of the elderly's health and wellbeing is one of these potential applications. Making the greatest use of AI skills to battle the pandemic at all stages is a vital future implication.

Pandemic Preparedness and What have We Really Learned from COVID-19 So Far? | Chapter 12 | Issues and Development in Health Research Vol. 5

Background: The second year of the COVID-19 epidemic has demonstrated that present systems are severely challenged by the complexity and intersectoral effects around the world. Quick fixes and problem-solving in a fractioned, comparative manner are no longer viable options. Even Nevertheless, there appears to be a belief that repeating the same actions will yield different consequences.

The goal of this session is to go over some of the best practises, lessons learned, and progress made in some of the evaluations. At the same time, this is an opportunity to recognise the progress made so far in Pandemic Preparedness while also highlighting the possibility of considering an alternative, system theory approach - David Gershon's concept of social transformation 2.0.

Findings: As the pandemic advances through different stages, the level of complexity for sectors, systems, and governments around the world is unparalleled. Several documents have been compiled to guarantee that progress is achieved in this area. More assessments to identify best practises and gaps are planned to aid governments in their efforts to ensure the safety of their citizens and contribute to global health security. Apart from certain categories being the same or similar, a rising number of instruments are being developed to assist governments in keeping track of current pandemic preparedness measures. The assessment reports revealed that each evaluation had its own set of indications and functions. While the focus was on finding gaps, there is limited information on the progress made and potential overlaps. Nonetheless, there is a lot of good purpose behind these assessments, as well as a significant amount of labour and resources. Interoperability, or connecting the dots, appeared to be supplanted by intersectional activism, in which diverse entities must leave a mark with single-sided solutions rather than a collaborative (behavior-driven), systematic, comprehensive, and integrated approach in the form of integrated programmes.

Conclusion: Everyone involved in pandemic preparedness and management, particularly frontline personnel, deserves credit for their tremendous efforts. Fractioned approaches continue to emerge from various evaluations' best practises and lessons learned, and they certainly suggest a mindset shift away from the concept that insufficient structures and processes may serve as a strong basis. Identifying gaps isn't enough anymore. Pandemic preparedness is suggested to be an element of systems theory, namely the concept of social transformation 2.0.
