Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Coronavirus 2 in Pregnancy: A Case Report | Chapter 8 | Current Innovations in Disease and Health Research Vol. 2

 A literally new and complex illness, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2), has had a devastating influence on many society's life, containing pregnant women. We present a 34-old age-old woman the one is 35 weeks pregnant and has SARS-COV-2 who necessary an urgent surgical fetus delivery delivery under general sleep and a protracted medical checkup stay in the intensive care unit on account of the disease's differing end organ function abnormalities. Though most meaningful patients manifest accompanying a milder form of the disease and do not require either treatment or ICU admission, our patient accompanying the associated comorbidities of pregestational diabetes and obesity acted show severe respiring insufficiency requiring extended hospitalization and ICU confirmation. She was sent home after nearly a month of situation. After 5 days, she was able to bring her baby home without some signs of SARS-COV-2.

Study on Chloroquine and Hydroxychloroquine in SARS-Cov-2: Repurposing the old Drugs against Today’s Deadly Disease | Chapter 19 | New Frontiers in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 4

 Introduction: Chloroquine (CQ) and Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) have gained a lot of traction as potential COVID-19 treatments. The medicine has been approved in India for the prophylaxis of asymptomatic health workers who are treating suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases, as well as asymptomatic household contacts of confirmed patients. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States has granted HCQ an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to treat COVID-19.

Materials and Procedures: In COVID-19, we give a database of trials using these drugs.

Discussion: In early 15 registered clinical trials of CQ and HCQ in COVID -19 positive patients in China, the drugs were found to be superior to the control treatment in preventing pneumonia exacerbation, improving lung imaging findings, promoting virus-negative conversion, and shortening the disease course. A international registry investigation of HCQ with or without a macrolide for the treatment of COVID-19 published online in Lancet on May 22, 2020, found no favourable findings. When HCQ was administered to treat COVID-19, the study found a worse in-hospital survival rate and a higher frequency of ventricular arrhythmias. In light of this report, the WHO paused the HCQ arm of its global clinical trial ‘Solidarity' on May 26, 2020, and experiments with HCQ/CQ for COVID were also halted. The Lancet paper sparked debate until the authors retracted the publication on June 4th, 2020.

Conclusions: Repurposing these pharmaceuticals is debatable until the findings of the WHO fast track ‘Solidarity' clinical trial and additional randomised clinical trials are released.
