A Critical Appraisal on Soft Brace Treatment in Patients with Scoliosis | Chapter 17 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 11

 Introduction: The SpineCor brand of soft/dynamic braces is now used all over the world. The soft brace is promoted as the first and only "dynamic" brace thanks to a clever marketing strategy. A brief review of the past of dynamic braces and devices currently available has been conducted.

Short Communication: Schanz reported the use of soft braces to treat scoliosis as early as 1904. Various soft and hard braces with soft add-ons are listed as state-of-the-art in his book as state-of-the-art in the nineteenth century. Fischer invented a number of these soft braces.

In contrast to hard braces, the dynamic brace has flaws that have been recorded in the literature; however, the idea of enhancing quality of life when wearing a brace should be explored further. The aim of this analysis is to present recent developments while also highlighting the past of soft braces.

Conclusion: There are a variety of soft braces available today, and soft bracing has a long history (over 120 years). It is deceptive for a company to claim to be the first and only distributor of a soft/dynamic brace.

Study on Evidence Based Social Sciences: A New Emerging Field | Chapter 5 | New Horizons in Education and Social Studies Vol. 10

 Evidence-based social sciences is one of the most cutting-edge areas of this discipline. It makes decisions using the best available facts from different sources in a careful, explicit, and judicious manner. It may also be conducive to evidence-based social work, or at least a form of evidence-based practise. The research findings in this recent emerging field assist social workers at various levels of the social sciences, such as policy making, administration, academics, education, and social settings, among others. Critical assessment is needed when using research in a real-world setting, not only to trust the paper's internal validity or rigour methodology, but also to assess the degree to which research findings can be applied in a real-world setting. The latter is, without a doubt, a subjective judgement. It is important to pay more attention to this field because social science results are highly context dependent. The aim of this paper is to implement evidence-based social sciences and their significance, as well as to propose standards for critical evaluation of research results for use in society. Finally, certain problems in proof implementations can be identified and avoided as far as possible.

A Detailed Overview on Evidence-Based Management | Chapter 9 | New Horizons in Education and Social Studies Vol. 7

 Evidence-based management has been influenced by the paradigm of evidence, but the essence of evidence and its implementation may vary from evidence-based medicine, the most well-known evidence-based practise. Management based on facts is not a novel concept. It was developed many years earlier, but after David Sackett's well-known concept of evidence-based medicine appeared, it continued through the trend of evidence-based practise. The movement of evidence-based practise, as well as its implementation in the real world, faces many obstacles, as do other practitioners. The goal of this study was to discuss the concept of evidence-based management, concepts and their challenges for implementing them in real settings and the potential solutions to resolve the obstacles. Developing a new version of Artificial Intelligence Evidence-based Management is a promising opportunity and may be beneficial if the obstacles are well overcome.
