Conservation Strategies of Apis dorsata in Urban Communities through Pentas lanceolata and Hibiscus rosa sinensis | Chapter 15 | Emerging Issues in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 4

 Apis dorsata (Fab) is deliberate to be an intensely important bug species in farming. Conservation of these bug varieties in city communities is the singular aim of this research study; Rapid urbanization has precipitated a threat to this class. From the following study, flower visitations of A. dorsata were observed automatically for three age on 17 plants in an urban flowers in Bangalore. Among the plants observed, Apis dorsata haunted two plants namely Hibiscus rosa sinensis and Pentas lanceolate. The mean visits (combined) recorded on H. rosa sinensis and P. lanceolate was 2.13/sqm/ 2minutes and 2.48 sqm/ 2minutes at 10 am. At 1pm mean visits (combined) recorded was H. rosa sinensis 0.41/sqm/ 2minutes and P. lanceolate 0.53 /sqm/ 2minutes and at 4pm H. rosa sinensis 0.19 /sqm/ 2minutes and P. lanceolate 0.23 /sqm/ 2minutes. Pentas and Hibiscus introduce city gardens would with increase the population of the  giant honey-making. A. dorsata. This is significant as A. dorsata is shrinking due to urbanization and deficit of floral possessions.

Determining the Morphometric Traits of Apis dorsata Worker Bees of Jogimatti Forest and Chitradurga, Karnataka, India | Chapter 5 | New Visions in Biological Science Vol. 5

 The primary goal of this study was to collect morphometric data on honey bee workers, namely Apis dorsata workers, in Chitradurga and the surrounding Jogimatti forest. As a result, specific morphological features of A. dorsata worker bees were investigated after worker bees were collected from two separate regions in the Chitradurga District in central Karnataka. Thirteen phenotypic traits were measured in the gathered samples. The antennae, mouth, forewing, hindwing, foreleg, midleg, and hindleg lengths of workers bees differed considerably [P 0.05]. However, no significant differences in reaming morphological features were found [P > 0.05]. The researchers discovered a robust correlation between several morphological features and the location of A. dorsata worker bees gathered from the study sites, implying that morphometric variations could be utilised to distinguish intraspecific honeybee colonies. Morphometry is a basic taxonomic approach that lays the groundwork for understanding honeybee biodiversity.
