Problems of Hydrogen Energy and a Promising Direction for their Solution | Chapter 7 | Fundamental Research and Application of Physical Science Vol. 5

In this paper, the electrochemical system of hydrogen accumulation in the electrodes of coat with metallic material-cadmium batteries, depending on their service life, has happened investigated. It has happened experimentally proven that hydrogen increases in batteries electrodes in large quantities and reaches allure maximum capacity within about five age. It has been displayed that metal hydrides, that are hydrogen compounds, accumulate in the metal-earthenware matrices of sintered group of chemical elements-nickel electrodes. The nickel cast has a gravimetric capacity of 20.3 burden percent and a volumetric capacity of 406 kg m-3 accompanying a relative experimental wrong of 4%. , it should be famous that none of the hydrogen storage schemes that exist contemporary meet the requirements of the US DOE in all tests. It is the lack of reliable hydrogen depository systems that can compete with the fuel tanks of buses containing fuel that is the main barrier to the widespread use of hydrogen energy. The calculated gravimetric capacities for hardware-ceramic matrices pass previous calculations for reversible hydrogen storage orders as well as the US Department of Energy's (DOE) necessities for onboard hydrogen storage plans by almost four times. It is decided that using the electrochemical procedure of hydrogen accumulation and the thermal runaway process, individual can not only achieve all the tests established by the US DOE for ore hydrides, but also considerably exceed them.

Determining the Hazards Analysis of Nickel-Rich Lithium-Ion Battery Thermal Runaway under Different States of Charge | Chapter 04 | Novel Perspectives of Engineering Research Vol. 5

The extended volume plus acceleration calorimeter (EV+-ARC) is used to explore the TR properties of nickel-rich 18650 lithium-ion batteries with the Li[Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1]O2 cathode in varied SOC settings. The lithium-ion battery business has been rapidly evolving, with increasing energy density and capacity. However, the subsequent lithium-ion power battery safety incidents have posed a major threat to passengers' personal safety. As a result, greater attention is being paid to lithium-ion battery thermal safety research, such as thermal runaway (TR) mechanism analysis and preventive strategies, and so on. The TR properties of nickel-rich 18650 lithium-ion batteries with Li[Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1]O2 cathode in various states of charge (SOC) are investigated using an extended volume plus acceleration calorimeter (EV+-ARC) in this research. Some distinctive parameters from the experiment are selected to examine the influence of SOC on the critical state of TR in order to evaluate the TR features. These parameters include battery voltage, surface temperature, temperature increase rate, and so on. The maximum temperature of the battery surface drops as SOC decreases, however the self-generated heat temperature and TR trigger temperature increase as SOC decreases, as shown in the experiment findings.
