Viability of Last-Mile Delivery Solutions in Sustainable Supply Chains| Chapter 1 | New Advances in Business, Management and Economics Vol. 10

 

Sustainable supply chains have become increasingly crucial for addressing the environmental and social challenges faced by societies worldwide. Last-mile delivery, the final step in the supply chain, is a major contributor to urban congestion, pollution, and carbon emissions. This research paper explores the viability of sustainable last-mile delivery solutions. This study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining a literature review, a case study involving a consumer survey in Copenhagen (n=100), and semi-structured interviews with logistics experts, a policymaker, and an industry leader. The results indicate that innovative solutions like electric vehicles, cargo bikes, and drones have the potential to reduce environmental impact and enhance social equity. Quantitative analysis revealed a statistically significant association (χ²=16.66, p<0.05) between the frequency of delivery and consumers' willingness to pay a premium for sustainable options. Qualitative findings underscore that progress is contingent on infrastructural development, supportive government policies, and the adoption of renewable energy. The study concludes that while consumer interest is growing, the widespread adoption of sustainable last-mile solutions requires concerted collaboration between public and private stakeholders to overcome economic and operational barriers.

Analytical Report on Exhaust Emission Optimization from Logistics & Packing Industries: A Green Logistical Approach | Chapter 10 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 2

Two out of every three consumers prefer eco-friendly brands of travel items from diet products and are also keen to pay more for the service, based on the survey by the Boston consulting company. The front interface with the user of every finished product is: the packaging design and materials must facilitate the shared objective of reducing carbon printing. A tool developed with policies named as 'Green packaging' to achieve the low carbon emitted packing. The goal of this paper is to determine the high-ranking parameter that can affect green packing and to establish optimum values for the design of materials for low emission packing. The findings obtained show that the material used in packing has a greater effect on the emission of greenhouse gases.
