Background: The availability of safe, clinically useful, and cost-effective bone allografts has led to changes in surgical therapy as well as an increase in demand for bone allografts for plastic surgery reconstruction. They're a good alternative to bone autograft since their supply is more plentiful, they allow for skeleton structural restoration, and their surfaces promote bone development.
A case study of 13 patients who were treated with freeze-dried bone allografts is presented. All transplants must meet certain requirements, according to the FDA and the Bone Banks. The objective assessment of graft volume persistence was performed using radiography, whereas the subjective assessment of graft volume was gained through patient response over the course of a one-year follow-up period. The goal of this research was to determine the clinical value of bone allografts in various reconstructive operations and compare them to bone autografts.
Conclusion: Bone allografts can be employed in a variety of bone surgeries, ranging from slight abnormalities to significant bone loss after tumour removal. Freeze-dried allograft bone is a safe and effective alternative to bone autograft since it has no donor-site morbidity.
