Plant Extracts: A Good Source of Treatment of Mucormycosis | Chapter 10 | Novel Aspects on Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 3

Mucormycosis (evil fungus), is a exceptional but serious fungal infection precipitated by Mucorales order. This black disease is seen mainly in post Covid-19 patients in India. The black leaven affects skin, body parts and brain. In vitro antimycotic exercise of leaf extract of Catharanthus roseus, Lantana camara, Nerium indicum, Sida cordifolia and Ziziphus mauritiana were studied against M. circinelloides. Patients accompanying COVID are currently being affected by mucormycosis on account of extended steroid use. Therefore, it should to develop antimycotic powers that are more potent and less toxic in consideration of treat mucormycosis. Plants and their extracts have been appropriated in the treatment of spreading diseases.   Aqueous, ethanol, and DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) leaf extracts were proven for antimycotic efficacy in this place study. All leaf extracts of chosen curative herbs were found expected effective against M. circinelloides.  The strongest antimycotic project was demonstrated for one ethanol leaf extract of C. roseus, attended by N. indicum and L. camara. M. circinelloides was subjected to moderate activity completely. mauritiana.
