Molecular Dynamics Simulation Studies on Structural Evolution and Glass Forming Ability of Zr50 Ag50 Alloy | Chapter 4 | Fundamental Research and Application of Physical Science Vol. 6

Bulk silvery glasses are amorphous alloys accompanying interesting structures and machinelike characteristics in comparison to the clear metallic forms and have attracted the interest of material researchers. In the work, molecular dynamics simulations accompanying modified embedded minimum method force field parameters have existed conducted to study the structural progress and glass forming capability of Zr50Ag50 alloy during solidification process. The fundamental analyses are completed activity through different techniques, to a degree the radial distribution function, arrangement number distribution and Voronoi tessellation study. The reduced glass change temperature of the Zr50Ag50 alloy is determined from the jar transition temperature and point at which something melts temperature of the alloy. The estimated lowered glass change temperature indicates good bottle forming ability of the alloy. The Voronoi collage analysis reveals that most of the Voronoi polyhedrons are <0,2,8,4>, <0,3,6,4>, <0,1,10,2>, <0,2,8,2> and <0,0,12,0> forms in this system, that are icosahedral structures. Hence, this observation of best population of icosahedral structures proves the formation of bulk golden glass in this place alloy.
