Arterial
variations can be found in a variety of arteries throughout the body, and they
are important for surgical and diagnostic purposes. The goal of this study is
to find differences in the origin and path of the vertebral artery. The
vertebral arteries are the main arteries in the neck. The vertebro-basilar
system, which includes the vertebral arteries and their major branches,
principally supplies blood to the upper spinal cord, the brain stem and
cerebellum, and various portions of the posterior cerebral hemispheres. The
origin and course of the vertebral artery have been discovered to vary.
Surgical reasons for the cervical region include spondylosis, a ruptured
intervertebral disc, tumours, infection, and trauma. In circumstances when the
vertebral artery follows an atypical course, the data gained from gross
anatomical dissections of cadavers can be a useful guideline for surgeons for
thorough pre-operative planning and can help them avoid potentially
life-threatening complications.
